The rise of school safety incidents – both those that dominate headlines and those that might only catch the notice of an IT Director’s eye – leave the education sector hunting for more comprehensive security solutions. In today’s world, those solutions are by their very nature technological. Building secure network layers, advocating for data privacy policies, and ensuring staff and students are properly trained in the utilization of these technologies is essential to supporting the educational initiatives of the district.

Voices are vying for center stage in the conversation around safety in schools, which is why we are hosting leaders in education technology from the Chicago region to share experiences, learn from one another, and build a toolkit of solutions to use in district offices today. From cloud security to VPNs, and from emergency notification and broadcast communications to network security and access credentials, we’ll be looking at the very real challenges facing school districts today.

Safety In Schools: Event Details

Safety in our schools is a priority; that’s why we’ve put together a free 2-hour discussion to provide insight and thought leadership on the challenges facing schools today as relates to:

  • Student Data Privacy
  • Laws, Legal Implications & Trends
  • Identifying and Mitigating Risks
  • Establishing Measures to Protect Students

Joining us from Riverside School District 96, Don Tufano, Director of Technology and Innovation, will be highlighting the strategies his team employs to address these growing concerns. Additionally, we’ll be discussing network security, cloud cybersecurity, and emergency notification & crisis prevention.

Hillary Hall, a Public Funding Advisor with the Cisco Public Funding Office, will review various funding options available for school districts in need of IT security resources. In addition, Eric White, Mindsight Solutions Architect, will lead a discussion on some of the most comprehensive solutions available to schools today.

Stay after the conversation for lunch where you can network with peers and find out how other leaders in education are solving the safety and security challenge.
