As part of Mindsight’s commitment to community service and corporate social responsibility, we supported the Hustle for Health 5k Run put on by the Kenneth Young Center (KYC). On May 6th, 2017, over a hundred runners from all around the Chicago area and beyond joined together for an opportunity to raise awareness of issues involving mental health and to raise funds for the good work done by the Kenneth Young Center.
What Is the Kenneth Young Center?
The Kenneth Young Center provides mental health and senior services for the Chicago metropolitan area. Focused mostly in the northwest suburbs, KYC assists over 27,000 people a year and has been doing so for over 46 years. Mental illness can impact the lives of anyone regardless of age, gender, or socioeconomic status. One-in-four Americans suffer from a mental illness. The tireless work KYC does in this area is extremely important to those struggling with mental illness.
The Annual KYC Hustle for Health
The Kenneth Young Center set a fundraising goal of $60,000 for the KYC Hustle for Health run, and with the help of Mindsight, KYC came very close to reaching it. Internally, Mindsight had our own goal that we were striving to reach. We hoped to be able to donate $1,500 to KYC from family, friend, and employee donations. Through the generosity of Mindsight employees and those closest to them, we shattered our fundraising goal and raised $2,764. Mindsight’s donation ranked us in the top 5 companies to support the event. Congratulations to the Mindsight team!
KYC still managed to raise a sizeable sum of money that will go far in subsidizing the cost of their services. In total and across multiple businesses and hundreds of donators, KYC raised $54,529 thus far, but the fundraising will continue until July.
