Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)

Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS)
AD LDS functions a lot like AD DS. It just operates on a lighter scale. AD LDS still contains information about user profiles and identities, but it runs as a service on a Windows server.
Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS)
This service enables your company to create a public key infrastructure. Using these public keys, network administrators can encrypt files, emails, virtual private networks (VPNs), and other resources.
Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS)
The Federation Services in Microsoft Active Directory are designed to make the user experience simpler. Instead of inputting a username and password every time a user wants to access a network feature, Federation enables Single Sign On (SSO) capabilities. Now, the user only needs to sign on once at the beginning of a session.
Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS)
Active Directory also includes a Rights Management Service. Using encryption technology, AD RMS can restrict user access to sensitive emails, files, and web pages.
