Mindsight Supports Hustle for Health 5K Run

April 28, 2017

At Mindsight, we believe that we have a responsibility to give back and make the world around us a better place. Whether that is through a food drive during the holiday season or donations to a local charity, we can do a lot of good for our Chicago area community. With this mission in mind, we have helped fundraise for the Hustle for Health 5K Run benefitting the Kenneth Young Center. Through donations from the Mindsight team and their friends, family, and other supporters, we have raised thousands of dollars for the center.

What is the Kenneth Young Center?

Kenneth Young Center strives to serve people throughout life’s journey. From children to seniors, individuals to families, KYC’s commitment is to provide quality mental health and older adult services that support body and soul. They touch the lives of over 27,000 people a year. For forty-six years, they have been proud to serve the northwest suburbs to help people feel good, do better, and find solutions.

KYC’s Annual 5K Run/Walk Hustle for Health

The goal for Hustle for Health is twofold. KYC hopes to raise awareness about mental health issues, treatment and recovery. Mental illness cuts through age, gender, and socioeconomics. One in four Americans suffer from mental health disorders. In recreation, Hustle for Health strives to destigmatize mental illness, creating advocacy and hope. KYC aims to educate the general public about the many services available at Kenneth Young Center with the message that education and treatment save lives. After all, it is personal because the next person in need of help could be your neighbor, family member or even you.

Additionally we hope to raise funds to subsidize KYC services. The goal is to raise $60,000. State and federal funding are becoming increasingly less available, particularly with the State of Illinois Budget gridlock. Simultaneously, the need for the services offered by the Kenneth Young Center is growing exponentially. Now, more than ever, they are reliant on fundraising efforts and support of our community partners to continue providing critical, life-saving services to the most vulnerable population.

Mindsight’s personal fundraising goal was $1,500, and so far we have found tremendous success. With still over a week until the actual event, Mindsight has raised $2,565 in direct donations.
